Do I have thousands of dollars of disposable income to spend should my dog get very sick on vet bills?

What would happen if my dog dies?

Will I be able to care for an animal for the next 8 to 22+ years? (the oldest dog ever lived was a dachsund)

If you think it should be very easy to purchase a dog, then you have fallen into the hands of the oldest trick of pet stores. They put these cute little furry puppies in front of the windows so they appear helpless, weak and loveable with these adoring eyes to trick you. As time goes by the clock is ticking, every day that someone doesn't buy the dog, the dog gets older and less cute..who will buy the dog now?

But because mostly everyone falls into this manipulative marketing of animal selling, the cycle continues, and the pet stores take more money into their pocket and facilitate the puppy mills. Puppy mills breed and breed until puppies come out, if they don't die after birth and look somewhat normal, they get shot up until they are "okay". They are then pulled out by the legs, arms and handled improperly and shoved into a box with false papers claiming wrong dates of birth and genetic history. There are states that do not have even laws about puppy mills.

That dog is shipped to the pet stores and made "cute" so you will buy it.

You buy it, it gets sick, it dies..you blame the pet store. So what, right? Buy a new one!

You buy it, it is healthy, you don't care to recognize just how lucky that little dog with the worst living conditions when it was born before it came to you. And how lucky you are.

You are not doing any "rescuing", "saving" when you act on these crimes. You drive this cycle and it gets worse every day.

Be ready to spend a lot of time and effort to save up for a dog, interview with a breeder, be on a waiting list, drive or fly to the breeder, walk the breeders home, eat dinner with the breeders' family, and you will get a call to see if you were approved or not to bring your puppy home. In most cases, you won't be until the breeder deems you as a good owner for the dog. That is the price of waiting for something good.

The reason why it is so difficult to get a dog from a certified breeder that is doing everything right because the demand is high, and supply is low. They actually love their dogs, and care about their dogs like their own children. They don't want to let them go. If they do not sell, breeders do not care, they will take them in and love them.

If you just want a dog, today, right now!, now! now! now! Go to a pet store, and see how much trouble you would have to buy the dog you like. You give money, they give you the dog, you go home, and you have dog. IT IS A TRANSACTION FOR MONEY AND BUSINESS, NOT LOVE. This will happen almost instantly.

Empire Puppies Advertisements- BEWARE

All their puppies are from Puppy Mills that are malnourished, underfed, and not taken care of. They then mark up their price to the price of breeders. 1899.00 for an English Bull Dog, would you trust that these people sell you a healthy dog, when they have a billion other listings up on their website.

There is no real health guarantee- they refer you to their vet which will deem your pet healthy, then you have a 14 day grace period that they will not uphold, they don't have a license numbers when they advertise which is against New York State Law- they do not provide the name of the breeder or the history of your newly purchased pet, they refuse to let you behind closed doors and worse, they can care less if your pet dies, or gets sick.. Pet stores do not care if your pets get sick, they get sick puppies. Sick Puppies = cheap, puppy mills = cheap. Puppy Mills breed for quantity, and will do anything they can to mask the health of the dog until it is too late.

Think twice, do your research, ask them for all the information you can have before you buy the pet, don't sign anything. Make sure that you know what you can get yourself into before you get yourself into the situation.

Walk around your local humane society, ask them where puppies from pet stores come from.
Do yourself a favor, and keep away from Pet Stores. Pets are not products, they are living, breathing, animals just like you, who need love, companionship, and will get sick.

Just my notes:

Why in the world would you come back to get another puppy back later this year? No person in their right mind given the love, time, and effort buy one dog and immediately go back again.
Empire puppies also say "good price, and clean place"..two things most people that buy pets do not write especially when writing a good review. People who loved the experience about buying a puppy and the people they bought it from do not even mention the cleanliness or the good price on a dog.

What they do mention is how wonderful the dog is, and how many tricks they have learned, and what they are doing now, and thank the name of the person who sold them the dog.

"Best price, best service, best puppy"????????????? I love the order of this..not best puppy first, but price. A pet owner and lover would never say such a thing. Money means nothing to you if you have an amazing dog that you are so proud of..a business owner or employee would write something like this because money is their first thought.

PUPPY MILL
I went to Empire Puppies on a Friday with my husband and three young sons. We fell in love with a westie. She had a great personality and the kids loved her. We bought her home and everything was great. On Saturday she began to cough. She coughed Sunday night and was unable to sleep. On Monday morning she work up with mucus covering her nostrils. I called the vet that Empire Puppies reccommended. I bought her in to be checked. The vet told me that the bronchitis was the least of my worries and that our sweet little puppy had a heart murmor so severe it was one of the worst she had ever heard. Now both my 8 year old and I are hysterical crying. I went back to Empire puppies. They told me that the vet was incompetenat (the vet the reccommended) and that I should see another vet in the office the next day. My husband took the puppy to the vet the next day and vet #2 confirmed what the fist vet said. We had to return our puppy to Empire Puppies. They gave us a complete refund minus the test and medication we purchased for worms and the $200.00 we spend in puppy supplies. The worst part of this is not the money but the heartbreak that my family experienced. Not a day goes by that I do not think about what happened to our sweet little girl. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THE TERRIBLE PUPPY MILL PURCHASING ESTABLISHMENT. Oh when my husband went to return the dog he met a guy in there who told him his puppy died two days after he purchased it.
